Nanjing, Monday (October 7, 2024) - In a significant step toward boosting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Republic of South Sudan, the Central Equatoria Business Union (CEBU) has inked a major real estate investment cooperation agreement with the Hong Kong-based Zhong Ni Industrial Group .
The partnership, signed on October 3, 2024, in Nanjing City, China, marks a pivotal moment in CEBU’s continuous efforts to attract sustainable investments that foster economic growth and wealth creation in South Sudan.
Representing the two parties in the landmark deal were Mr. Juma Khamis Juma, the Chairman of CEBU, and Mr. Mao Lin, the CEO of Zhong Ni Industrial Group.
The agreement is expected to provide a mutually beneficial platform that promotes job creation, infrastructure development, and revenue generation for the young nation of South Sudan, while allowing Zhong Ni to expand its business footprint in a developing market with vast potential.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Juma Khamis Juma expressed his deep appreciation to Zhong Ni Industrial Group for their confidence in the South Sudanese market.
He highlighted the importance of private-sector collaboration in unlocking the country’s economic potential, stressing the role of foreign investments in overcoming national challenges and generating long-term value for both investors and the people of South Sudan.
“This agreement represents a win-win partnership that is in the best interest of both parties,” Juma said, addressing the audience.
“South Sudan, like many nations, faces a host of challenges, particularly in terms of infrastructure development and employment.
“However, when the private sector works hand in hand with the government and foreign investors, we can tackle these issues one by one, creating jobs for our youth and generating revenue that can improve service delivery for all citizens.”
He went on to say that the deal was not just about capital, but about forging lasting ties between the two regions that will lead to sustainable development in South Sudan.
“We see this as more than a transaction. This is about building long-term relationships that will bring about real, tangible change to South Sudan's economy,” he emphasized.
For the Zhong Ni Industrial Group, the cooperation represents an opportunity to contribute to South Sudan's strategic developmental goals.
The company, which has a strong track record in real estate development, is eager to collaborate with CEBU and relevant South Sudanese stakeholders to ensure that their projects are aligned with the country’s broader growth plans.
Mao Lin, CEO of Zhong Ni Industrial Group, expressed his excitement about the new venture, saying, “We are thrilled to be partnering with CEBU at a time when South Sudan is poised for transformation.”
“Our goal is to bring the expertise and resources necessary to make a meaningful impact on the ground. We are committed to ensuring that our investments are not only profitable but also contribute to the overall development and prosperity of the nation.”
Lin also stressed that the success of the venture would rely heavily on cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as the local business community.
“Our experience in developing economies has shown us that local partnerships are key to success. We look forward to working closely with CEBU and other South Sudanese stakeholders to realize the full potential of this collaboration,” he added.
The cooperation between CEBU and Zhong Ni comes at a crucial time for South Sudan, which continues to face significant challenges as it rebuilds its economy following years of conflict and instability.
The country’s real estate sector , in particular, has been identified as a key area for development, with the potential to create jobs, improve living standards, and boost the national economy.
For South Sudan, the infusion of foreign investment into real estate offers a pathway toward addressing the chronic housing shortages in urban areas, improving infrastructure, and expanding the range of available services.
With CEBU playing a pivotal role in representing the interests of local businesses and ensuring that foreign investments align with national priorities, the agreement is expected to catalyze a wave of development that benefits the nation as a whole.
As Mr. Juma noted during the signing ceremony, the collaboration will not only focus on building real estate projects but also on ensuring that these developments have a broader social and economic impact.
“We are keen to ensure that the benefits of this partnership extend beyond bricks and mortar,” he said. “It is about creating opportunities for our people and setting South Sudan on a path toward sustainable economic growth.”
Both CEBU and Zhong Ni Industrial Group have expressed optimism about the long-term potential of the agreement.
In addition to creating jobs and driving economic growth, the cooperation is expected to contribute to the overall stability of South Sudan by providing much-needed infrastructure and services that will improve the quality of life for its citizens.
As Mr. Lin remarked, “We are not just investing in real estate; we are investing in the future of South Sudan. We believe that with the right partnerships, we can help create a prosperous, stable, and thriving nation.”
Now that the agreement has been finalized, both parties are eager to embark on the next phase of their partnership, transforming the vision of cooperation into tangible projects that will transform South Sudan's landscape and contribute to its long-term development goals.
As South Sudan continues its journey toward economic recovery and growth, partnerships like the one between CEBU and Zhong Ni Industrial Group will play a critical role in ensuring that the country can achieve its full potential on the global stage.
